Demonetisation will change black money into white: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Nov. 13: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that demonetisation is just a method to change black money in to white. BJP govt. is saying i have  black money. They conducted income tax raids in our homes, but were unable to find anything. If they would have found anything i would have been in jail.

He said level of corruption will not decrease by demonetisation. He said nothing is going to change by adding that he can not understand how corruption will decrease by banning Rs. 1000 note and bringing new Rs. 2000 note.

Reacting to PM Modi's statement, in which he requested people to give 50 days to change old money "He said how people would survive for 50 days without food and other necessary things". He said not a single rupee of black money will come in the system and corruption will not end by this method, it will rather increase.

Delhi CM Kejriwal alleges massive scam in demonetisation scheme

Delhi CM Kejriwal alleges massive scam in demonetisation scheme

New Delhi, Nov.12 : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday alleged that a major scam is involved in the demonetisation of currency. He said- a few corporates were informed in advance about it. In last three months, thousands of crores of money have been deposited in bank accounts of some people and corporate houses.

He said- Modi's "surgical strike"is not on black money but on common men's savings. Rickshawala's, cobblers, labourers and farmers do not hold black money. He appealed BJP govt. to roll back the scheme, otherwise it will lead to massive financial crisis. Scrapping Rs. 500 notes and bringing Rs. 2000 notes will rather make accumulation of black money easy.

BJP president Amit Shah and Finance Minister have already defended the govt.'s decision and said country is moving towards a cash-less economy. Jaitley reassured the people that those having lawful money have nothing to fear about. He added it is a major set back to parallel economy.

Delhi Police go for AAP leader ahead of Kejriwal rally

New Delhi, Oct 14: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday accused Delhi Police of attempting to detain the AAP in-charge in Gujarat ahead of his (Kejriwal's) Sunday rally in Surat.

"Just two days before Surat rally, Delhi Police obtain non bailable warrant against our Gujarat Prabhari, Gulab Singh, in a completely false case," the Aam Aadmi Party leader tweeted.

Kejriwal is set to reach Gujarat on Friday evening on a two-day trip. The AAP hopes to contest next year's Gujarat assembly elections.

AAP MLAs get time till October 17 to respond on Illegal PS

New Delhi, Oct 13: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has given 21 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators in Delhi till October 17 to explain why they should not be disqualified from the assembly after their appointment as Parliamentary Secretaries.

In the notice issued on Monday, the ECI also told petitioner Prashant Patel to submit his rejoinder to the 21 AAP lawmakers' reply by October 21.

The AAP legislators had earlier written to the Election Commission requesting for more time to file their replies, following which the extension till October 17 has been given.

"It may be noted that if no reply is received by the aforesaid date, it will be presumed that you have nothing to say in this matter and the Commission will take appropriate action without any further reference to you," the EC notice said.

After coming to power in February 2015, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's government appointed 21 party lawmakers as the Parliamentary Secretaries, saying this would facilitate smooth functioning of the government but would not cause any burden on the exchequer.

The Delhi High Court in September quashed the appointment of 21 Parliamentary Secretaries. The AAP, however, refused to comment over the issue and maintained that it was an ongoing process.

After the notice, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday reiterated its demand of "disqualification" of the 21 AAP legislators in "office of profit" matter.

"It is already proven that they (AAP MLAs) were holding office of profit so we are demanding that their membership must be cancelled," Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told IANS.

Congress legal affairs in-charge, Aman Panwar told IANS that the 21 AAP MLAs were illegally appointed as parliamentary secretaries in the Delhi government.

"Under the law, they must be disqualified," he demanded.

In June 2015, a major row was sparked off on the issue of 'Office of Profit' after President Pranab Mukherjee rejected the Delhi government's bill to exclude the post of Parliamentary Secretary from the 'Office of Profit' definition.

The Delhi government sought through the bill an amendment to the Delhi Members of Legislative Assembly (Removal of Disqualification) Act, 1997, so as to exclude the post of Parliamentary Secretary from the definition of 'Office of Profit'.

The AAP has maintained that none of the Parliamentary Secretaries was given "pecuniary benefits" and the appointment of the party legislators as Parliamentary Secretaries did not amount to creation of a "public office".

Amit Shah, Jaitley visit Apollo Hospital

Chennai, Oct 12: BJP President Amit Shah and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday visited the Apollo Hospital to enquire about the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalaltihaa's health.

The 68-year-old Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital on September 22 with fever and dehydration.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leaders spent some 20 minutes in the hospital. They did not speak to the media.

It is not known if they met Jayalalithaa or only spoke to doctors and AIADMK leaders.

Kejriwal attends Ramlila celebrations at Red Fort

New Delhi, Oct 11: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attended the Luv-Kush Ramlila celebrations at Red Fort on the occasion of Dussehra on Tuesday.

"Arvind Kejriwal at Love-Kush Ramlila at Red Fort," Aam Aadmi Party's (APP's) official Twitter handle tweeted along with several pictures of Kejriwal taking part in the celebrations.

Kejriwal was felicitated with a symbolic mace by the organisers of the Ramlila.

Dussehra is a Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil. According to mythology, Lord Rama killed demon king Ravana of Lanka on this day. People burn effigies of Ravana across the country on the day.

Lt. Governor greets Delhi residents on Dussehra

New Delhi, Oct 10: Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung on Monday greeted the citizens of Delhi on the occasion of Dussehra, wishing them peace, happiness and prosperity.

"On the joyous occasion of Dussehra, I take great pleasure in extending warm greetings to all my fellow citizens," Jung said in his message.

Noting the festival depicts the victory of good over evil, he said: "It is the celebration of Shakti and Bhakti and symbolizes our inner struggle to rise to higher levels of consciousness."

He added that the festival "guides us in the path of righteousness" and wished it brings "peace, happiness and prosperity for all" and "strengthen our bonds ever more".

Girls take over as traffic cops on International Day of the Girl Child

New Delhi, Oct 10: On the eve of International Day of the Girl Child (IDG), over 100 girls took over as traffic controllers at four places here, spreading the word about gender equality through pamphlets and banners.

IDG is a UN-declared international observance day which has been celebrated globally on October 11 since 2012.

The drive "Girls taking Over" was initiated by Plan India, an NGO working towards child development, and the European Union (EU), as part of their three-year collaboration.

EU Ambassador to India Tomasz Kozlowski inaugurated the event and distributed badges to young girls who were mainly from the marginalised community.

"I was deployed at the India Gate intersection. I, with others, distributed pamphlets to commuters and told them about the importance of educating girls and treating them equally," Champa, 19, who has recently enrolled in a liberal arts course, told IANS.

"We also guided the traffic and asked the drivers to get behind the zebra crossing whenever one erred beyond it," she said.

"I wanted to be part of the initiative since I believe that girls in our community are kept under restrictions and I want to change that," she added.

The traffic intersections where the drive was undertaken were at Rajpath, Mandi House, Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Windsor Circle. Traffic personnel helped the girls with their two-hour-long stint.

Inaugurating the initiative, Kozlowski said: "Ensuring that girls feel respected and valued in society is the first step to breaking down the barriers of discrimination. Today, on International Day of the Girl Child, we remember that empowering girls and women is not just our moral duty, it is also the solution to many of the greatest challenges we face in the quest for development and peace: Investing in girls is investing in peace and prosperity."

Another girl, Ruby, a class 10 student from a government school in Madanpur Khadar also took over as a Radio Jockey (RJ) at Radio Mirchi, a local radio station.

"I was given a nickname of 'Rocking Ruby' and had an interaction with 'Recharge Rohit', the in-house RJ there. I learnt about the style of speaking well and had a lot of fun. I joined the campaign not for a girl from my locality or city, or my country, but for girls all over the world who face discrimination," Ruby told IANS.

"We have been running this campaign since even before the UN came up with IDG. During the last few days girls took over as Sarpanch, corporate CEO, and editors of reputed newspapers around the country," Executive Director of Plan India Bhagyashri Dengle told IANS.

She said they planned this initiative to give the girls an opportunity to explore the career options which may not be open to them.

"We will also be releasing our annual report 'State of the Girl Child in India' on October 14," she added.

Radioactive leak in Delhi airport, NDRF says nothing to panic

New Delhi, Oct 9: A radioactive substance leaked from a medical shipment flown from France at the international airport here on Sunday but authorities later said there was nothing to panic.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Bhatia quoted the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) as saying that the radioactivity following the leak was within permissible limits.

No one at the airport had been affected, officials said.

The NDRF, the Department of Atomic Energy, the Delhi Fire Service and security agencies rushed to the Indira Gandhi International Airport following reports that a radioactive substance had leaked at the cargo terminal.

Delhi Police got the first call around 10.25 a.m.

"Six packets containing solid sodium molybdate had arrived from Paris by flight AF 226. The consignment was meant for cargo terminal but mistakenly placed in an area meant for courier (packets)," Bhatia told IANS.

The officer said the consignee was identified as Dhitee Biotech India Pvt Ltd, located at the Okhla industrial area in south Delhi.

"The NDRF, DAE and other agencies reached the spot... No injury or any problems to any human has been observed so far," the officer said.

"The NDRF has confirmed that radioactivity is within the permissible limits," he added.

Police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have cordoned off the area.

The Delhi Fire Services earlier identified the substance as Molybdenum-99.

The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), however, said there was no radioactive leak at the Airport. DIAL is a GMR Group-led consortium which manages and operates the airport.

Waqf Board dissolved because of fight against corruption: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Oct 8: A day after Lt Governor Najeeb Jung dissolved the Delhi Waqf Board, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that the move came because its chairman Amanatullah Khan was targeting "big vested interests" responsible for corruption in the religious endowments body.

"Everyone knows that Waqf Board had become the centre of corruption. But after taking over as the chairman of the board, Amanatullah Khan increased its income from Rs 26 lakh to Rs 1 crore by taking several measures," Kejriwal said at a press conference here.

"He was targeting big vested interests and that is why he was removed and the board dissolved," he said.

On Friday, Jung had also declared Mehboob Alam's appointment as the Waqf Board CEO as illegal and referred all matters involving alleged rule violations and corruption to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a probe.

Kejriwal added that from being a centre of corruption, the Waqf Board had turned a new page under the leadership of Amanatullah Khan, who is also an Aam Aadmi Party legislator.

"As many as 1,200 widows were given pension, 100 children were given scholarship. Construction of five schools had started," he said.

"But yesterday (Friday), Waqf Board office was sealed, and we don't know why it was done. We came to know from the Divisional Commissioner that there were no such orders to seal the office," Kejriwal added.

Earlier in the day, Amanatullah Khan also said that he is being targeted because he "waged a war" against corruption in the Waqf Board after taking charge in March.

"After becoming the chairman of Waqf Board, I was sent to jail twice. Anti Corruption Branch is sent after me. This is the first time in history that office of the Waqf Board is sealed," Khan said.

On Friday, Jung said that Alam's appointment as CEO of Waqf Board was "illegal and void ab initio" in the absence of necessary approval from the competent authority. He dissolved the board, the term of which was to expire in December 2016.

Delhi heading for chaos with all our decisions being nullified: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Oct 8: Hitting out again at Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday all the decisions taken by his government in the last one-and-a-half years are being rendered "null and void", which will lead to chaos.

"This will have serious ramifications for the city and it will send Delhi back by almost two years. But unfortunately, that is exactly what is happening in Delhi," he said at a press conference at his residence here.

Kejriwal's remarks come a day after Jung declared Mehboob Alam's appointment as Delhi Waqf Board CEO illegal and dissolved the religious body on Friday.

He also asked the Delhi government to withdraw its last year's notification of increasing circle rates of agricultural land in Delhi.

At this Kejriwal said: "We increased the circle rate of agricultural land in Delhi from Rs 53 lakh to Rs 3.5 crore. Many farmers even got the money as per revised rates from their land. Now that decision is being made 'ab initio' null and void. Will we take the money back from the farmers."

"We have made many flyovers, now will they be demolished? We constructed 8,000 classrooms. Will they have to be demolished as well," he asked.

Kejriwal said if there is corruption involved in all those decisions, then the Lt. Governor can get them investigated, but they should not be made null and void just because his consent was not taken.

He said before the August 4 High Court order, which held the Lt Governor had primacy over the Delhi administration, his government took various decisions "legitimately", believing that Lt Governor's consent was not needed for some issues.

"However, LG believed that his consent was needed. Our intention was not wrong while taking those decisions. The court case was going on and now there's the interpretation that his approval is needed," Kejriwal said.

He also noted that while prior approval was not taken, all the files were sent to the Lt Governor for his information.

"LG could have raised an objection then. You can't express a difference of opinion in infinity. What will happen to those orders now? Delhi will be headed for chaos if it goes on like this," he said.

He stressed that if prior approval was not taken, the Lt Governor should give his approval now so that all the work done in the last one and a half years is not reduced to nothing.

Assuring that in future, decisions will be taken as per orders of the High Court, and whatever order is given by the Supreme Court, Kejriwal requested the Central government "not to victimise the people of Delhi".

SC imposes Rs 25,000 cost on Delhi Health Minister

New Delhi, Oct 3: The Supreme Court on Monday imposed a cost of Rs 25,000 on Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain for failing to file an affidavit naming the officials allegedly not co-operating in the efforts to contain the chikungunya and dengue virus.
Apparently unhappy over the plea by Delhi government’s lawyer seeking time to file the affidavit, a bench of Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice D.Y. Chandrachud observed: “People are dying, you don’t need 24-hours to file an affidavit.”
Reminding the Delhi government about its tall claims, the bench observed: “When you make tall claims you must back them up”.
The apex court had asked the Delhi Health Minister to file an affidavit giving names of the officials which it had alleged in the last hearing were not co-operating in the drive to contain chikungunya and dengue.
The court imposed the cost in the course of the hearing of suo motu matter it had taken up in 2015 when parents of a child committed suicide after he died as was not treated at a hospital.

Probe Amit Shah’s links with CBI officials: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Sep 29: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday demanded a probe into the alleged links of BJP President Amit Shah with CBI officers and officials named in the suicide note of senior bureaucrat B.K. Bansal.
“Read Bansal’s suicide note. Unable to sleep. Sanjiv Gautam (CBI) etc should be immediately arrested. Their links with Amit Shah investigated (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted.
Corporate Affairs Ministry officer Bansal, who committed suicide along with his son at his house in Neelkanth Apartments in east Delhi on Tuesday, claimed in his suicide note that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers not only tortured him but also his wife and daughter, which drove them to suicide as well on July 19.
The suicide note, accessed by IANS, named CBI Deputy Inspector General Sanjeev Gautam, Superintendent of Police Amrita Kaur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rekha Sangwan, Investigating Officer Harnam Singh and an unnamed Head Constable for “murdering his wife Satyabala, 57, and daughter Neha, 27”.
The suicide note — a copy of which was also widely circulated on Twitter — cites DIG Gautam as claiming that he was “Amit Shah’s man”.
“The whole country knows (the) criminal background of Amit Shah. Can India be mute (a) spectator to CBI being turned into an agency of his henchmen,” Kejriwal tweeted.
On Wednesday, Kejriwal expressed shock over the suicides of the Bansal family and said that the media should tell the full story.
“Absolutely shocking. Are we living in a democracy? More shocking is the media’s reluctance to tell the full story,” Kejriwal tweeted while referring to an earlier tweet that alleges “conspiracy by Amit Shah” against B.K. Bansal.
Bansal and his 31-year-old son Yogesh were found hanging in their Patparganj apartment on Tuesday morning.
Bansal’s wife Satyabala, 57, and daughter Neha, 27, committed suicide by hanging on July 19 after Bansal was questioned by the CBI in the bribery case.

DCW issues notice to CBI after Bansal suicide

New Delhi, Sep 29: The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Thursday issued a notice to the CBI following the suicide by former bureaucrat B.K. Bansal, his wife and their two children.
“We are not saying whether Bansal was corrupt or not. But the fact that his entire family committed suicide is very sad. We have issued a notice to the CBI Director to ask whether he is going to take action against the (erring) officials and file an FIR,” DCW Chairperson Swati Maliwal said.
Maliwal also sought an independent inquiry into the role of the Central Bureau of Investigation officials alleged to be involved in the torture of the Bansals.
Bansal, a senior officer in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, was accused of corruption and was being probed by the CBI.
He and his 31-year old son Yogesh committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging themselves at their house in east Delhi. His wife Satyabala, 57, and daughter Neha, 27, committed suicide on July 19.
Bansal named CBI Deputy Inspector General Sanjeev Gautam, Superintendent of Police Amrita Kaur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rekha Sangwan and Investigating Officer Harnam Singh apart from mentioning an unnamed Head Constable in his suicide note.
“These CBI officers made my family life hell. Although I heard that the CBI is tough but I never heard about such proceedings. My daughter and wife had not committed suicide, it is murder by the CBI,” Bansal wrote in his suicide letter.

Delhi teacher stabbed by 2 student, Rs 1 crore compensation announced

New Delhi, Sep 27: The Delhi government will provide Rs 1 crore to the family of a school teacher stabbed to death by two of his students, it was announced on Tuesday.
Mukesh Kumar, a government school teacher at Nangloi here, was stabbed on Monday by two Class XII students in front of their classmates for allegedly having them rusticated for low attendance.
He succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Tuesday, a day after he was attacked.
Both the students, one of whom is a minor, have been apprehended, police said.
“Both the students were frequent absentees and indisciplined. Kumar used to point that out and take steps to correct them and maintain discipline in the school. The minor student was rusticated from the school because of poor attendance,” Joint commissioner of police (south-western range) Dependra Pathak said.
“The accused on interrogation revealed that they planned to teach Kumar a lesson and accordingly bought a knife and stabbed him. After committing the crime, they roamed around Nithari lake and Begumpur area before they were apprehended,” said Pathak, adding that the knife and a blood stained cloth were recovered from the duo.
The government has also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
“There can be no compensation for the family’s agony… The government will give Rs 1 crore to his family as immediate financial assistance,” Sisodia said.
He added that there are around 26 lakh students studying in Delhi schools and one cannot call all of them criminals because of the criminal tendencies of just two students.
“I appeal to the parents that it is high time that we should talk to our children and teach them to respect our teachers,” he said.

Delhi Police probing ‘missing’ Ishrat Jahan documents case

New Delhi, Sep 26: Delhi Police has started investigating the case of missing files pertaining to the Ishrat Jahan shootout case after the Union Home Ministry lodged an FIR in the matter that had seen a row between the BJP and the Congress.
“We have filed an FIR in the Ishrat Jahan missing documents case and are planning further proceedings,” Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi, Jatin Narwal said on Sunday.
An Under Secretary in the Home Ministry has filed the FIR at the Parliament Street Police station here under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servants) of the Indian Penal Code.
The FIR seeks a probe on “why, how and under what circumstances” five documents related to the case went missing, sources said.
“The complaint from Home Ministry was filed on August 26 and a police case has been registered under ‘stealing’ category earlier this month on September 22,” a source said here.
An official panel was appointed by the government to probe the “missing documents” after former Home Secretary G.K. Pillai sparked a row by claiming that some papers related to an affidavit in the case were changed by then Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
The Congress and Chidambaram had denied the charge and instead charged the Modi government with “politicising” the issue.
The Home Ministry had ordered the probe by senior IAS officer B.K. Prasad on March 14. He was also given extension in July amid complaints that he had tried to “tutor” some of the witnesses, including retired officials.
The ministry had maintained that since this is “highly sensitive enquiry” wherein allegations have come in that efforts were made to conceal the terror link of Ishrat Jahan, the government desired that the panel submit a “detailed and final report”.
The NDA government has maintained that “the second affidavit”, which was different from the original, had said there was no evidence to link Ishrat to the terror group.
According to sources in the Home Ministry, the papers which went missing and listed in the FIR are the office copy of the letter and enclosure sent by the then Home Secretary to the then Attorney General on September 18, 2009, a copy of another letter sent by then Home Secretary to the AG on September 18, 2009, and the draft of a further affidavit as vetted by the AG.
Ishrat Jahan and three others were killed in an alleged staged shootout in Gujarat in 2004. Police had claimed that they were Lashkar-e-Taiba militants on a mission to kill then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
The controversy over the case flared up after David Headley, a Lashkar operative involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attack, also made some observations on February 11 this year about the case.

AIIMS appreciates security guards who stopped Somnath Bharti

New Delhi, Sep 22: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will issue certificate of appreciation to its security officials and engineers for showing courage and filing an FIR against AAP legislator Somnath Bharti for damaging a fence at the hospital premises here and misbehaving with guards.
“AIIMS in recognition of services rendered by the Engineers and Security Officials has decided to issue certificates of appreciation for showing outstanding courage and resilience in protecting AIIMS property in the face of grave intimidation,” said a statement from AIIMS.
According to AIIMS, on September 9 Delhi legislator Somnath Bharti along with approximately 300 supporters assembled in Gautam Nagar and started breaking the fence and the boundary wall of AIIMS with the help of excavator-cum-loader in order to give access to unauthorised persons inside AIIMS property.
“Somnath Bharti was claiming that the road belongs to the general public. They were requested to produce orders of the competent authority which they failed to produce,” said the statement.
The medical institution, in its first communique over the issue, alleged that Bharti and men with him were not accompanied by any government official of the Delhi government.
“It was explained to Somnath Bharti that the procedure he is adopting is not correct and AIIMS had necessary approvals. Somnath Bharti started misbehaving and abusing AIIMS security personnel. Six security personnel received injuries while protecting AIIMS property,” said the statement.
Bharti was on Thursday arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the case, but was later granted bail on a personal security bond of Rs 30,000.
